The funny thing about grief is you never quite understand it until it catches up to you.
Grief can be a feeling that trumps the occasional sadness, yet not quite like depression. It tends to hide in the background, waiting for the right opportunity to cloud the day and keep you pseudo-bedridden to the human psyche. Call it a mental prison (with generous, limited freedom) of some sort.
