If you or someone you know is in a relationship with a narcissist, their social circle usually falls into two categories: many friends or very few. In either case, don’t think twice about it.

The point is, narcissists lack meaningful friendships. These connections are often vapid and void of any deep connection. They are nothing but shallow, peripheral friendships.

These are people they put on a show for, people they pretend to be good to, and those they can employ as “flying monkeys” — those who are easily manipulated or similar to them, enabling their bad behavior.

Some narcissists may have few life-long friendships, except for those from childhood. And even then, those relationships can prove to be insignificant, often based on enabling the narcissist’s behavior.
