Why A Narcissist May Never Forget That One Ex

This is an anomaly, but even a narcissist would feel the loss of someone they deeply loved.

But by the time the narcissist reaches some level of self-reflection, it is already too late. Once their beloved ex moves onto bigger and better things, the narcissist’s world dawns on them, putting them into a frenzy of poor attempts at trying to regain trust.

Chances are, everyone has that one ex in mind who got away. Believe it or not, narcissists can feel this too. They’re no exception to the dreadful motions that comes from a breakup — the overwhelming agony that consumes the heart.

If the old partner had become close with the Narc’s family, then it will only hit harder. With the Narc ultimately knowing they lost something good, for good. The amount of familial disappointment is one of the biggest contributors to ensuing self-reflection.

There may have been some instance where the ex allowed the Narc back in, only to be met with the same mistreatment from before. For the better or worse, it’s situations like these that brings a semblance of realization for victims.
