How shocking! Right?..

Mosts narcissist do not identify nor see themselves as the abusers. This is due to how much they justify and rationalize their behavior.

A key trait of narcissism is having a distorted perception of the self, therefore they’re almost incapable of recognizing their destructive behaviors and how it may affect others. Ultimately, this is primarily due to having the inability to genuinely and truly self-reflect.

It’s not that narcissist plays the victim, they actually believe that they are.

This is not to say they’re unaware that whenever they inflict harm. Trust me, they certainly DO know. They DO know when they’re lying, intimidating, and are most definitely know when they are employing gaslighting tactics.

However, all the above will not have the narcissist see themselves as the abuser.

It’s a pathological avoidance of accountability. The twisting of narratives to the degree that it rewrites history.

So instead of taking responsibility for their actions, the narcissist will convinces themselves that it was entirely your fault.
